Fodder School Muse-of-the-Month: Susanne Randers
It’s time to meet our next Muse of the Month (who is, coincidentally, also a teacher in Fodder School 3)!
Introducing Susanne Randers, or @mitkrearum on Insta; Be sure to give her a follow and show her some love!
What part of the world do you currently live in?
I live in Denmark, in a small village 40 kms south of Copenhagen. But we are looking for a bigger house at the real country side with endless views and even closer to nature.
When did your art or crafting journey begin?
I made a commitment to myself in the beginning of 2013 to live a creative life. Before that I have had almost 20 years as an adult dreaming about being creative, but I guess I was afraid to make mistakes, and would rather sort and color organize craft materials than play with them. So after 20 years of creative drought I invited Julia Cameron’s book “The Artist Way” into my life and began blogging and creating.
How long have you been in Fodder School and what keeps you coming back each year?
I have been in all five years of Fodder School. And even a teacher in Fodder School 3. Fodder School is just what my creative soul needs. As I am constantly curious and wanna try new creative disciplines I love to swipe my tables in the beginning of the month and challenge myself with new techniques, mediums and projects. And that is just what Fodder School offers! I create for the flow feeling, not the end result.
How has Fodder School influenced your creative journey or daily art practice?
I love the community that Fodder School is giving all the participants. I love the sharing and caring in the Facebook group and I love to see the other students approach to the different lessons.
When I started my Fodder School journey I had no idea that I was invited to be a teacher - and asked to turn my hand carved stamps into Art Foamies in collaboration with Fodder School. Sometimes I have to pinch myself in the arm when I look at all the amazing stamps, thinking “I created that!”
Fodder School has given me so much knowledge about color theory and personal color schemes - and I love to see how my pink-green color scheme has evolved over the years with a little bit of this and that
What’s one project, technique, or lesson from FS that completely lit you up?
Over the years we have had so many awesome Fodder School techniques and projects - but in Fodder School 3 I particularly loved the combination of Tiffany Sharpe’s brayer technique combined with Barb Smucker’s stencils. That combo is a darling of mine to this very day.
Other outstanding lessons and teachers are the playful approach that Liz Constable has and the very grounded approach Jack Ravi has - from whom I have learned a lot.
How would you describe the Fodder School community in three words?
Uplifting, caring and amazing
We’re endlessly inspired by our Fodder School superfans and the heart they bring to this community. Stay tuned for more spotlights!
