Fodder School Muse-of-the-Month: Lee Fisher
It’s time to meet our next Muse of the Month!
Introducing Lee Fisher, or @fisher.bits on Instagram. Be sure to give her a follow and show her some love!
What part of the world do you currently live in?
I’m a California native, originally from Southern California, and I’ve lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 30 years.
When did your art or crafting journey begin?
I’ve always loved making things. My creative journey really began when I learned how to sew as a child. I started by using patterns to make Barbie doll clothes, which I carefully hand-sewed myself. My dolls were definitely the best dressed in town!
As I got older, sewing continued to be a big part of my life. I even made my own wedding dress. My mom also taught me embroidery when I was young, and I still love it to this day. I especially enjoy incorporating embroidery and stitching details into some of my mixed media and creative projects now.
How long have you been in Fodder School and what keeps you coming back each year?
This is my fifth year in Fodder School, and joining has honestly been one of the best creative decisions I’ve ever made.
I started in 2021, which turned out to be the perfect time because COVID had really changed how willing I was to be out in the world. I knew I wanted to expand my creativity and try something new, but I didn’t know where to begin. Then I stumbled across Fodder School 1 and decided to jump in.
What keeps me coming back every year is the incredible variety of lessons, techniques, and artistic styles. I love that everyone is encouraged to interpret projects in their own way, and there’s so much support and encouragement within the creative community. Being surrounded by like-minded artists and makers has been such a joyful experience.
For me, Fodder School is energizing, challenging, and amazing.
What’s one project, technique, or lesson from FS that completely lit you up?
One of my all-time favorite projects was the November 2025 Rolodex card project with @abshanghai. It’s hard to pick just one favorite lesson, but I absolutely loved creating those cards and honestly didn’t want to stop making them.
I enjoyed the project so much that I even made kits for a few friends so they could create their own Rolodex cards too. It was one of those projects that completely pulled me into the creative process.
One piece of encouragement for a brand-new student?
I would tell any new Fodder School student to get ready to get messy, learn a lot, and feel like you’ve become part of a creative family.
There’s such a huge variety of techniques, projects, and ideas to explore, which makes every month exciting. One of the best things about Fodder School is that you can move at your own pace — whether that’s slow and steady or diving into everything at once. It’s an amazing way to discover new forms of art and creativity while being supported every step of the way.
We’re endlessly inspired by our Fodder School superfans and the heart they bring to this community. Stay tuned for more spotlights!
