It’s time to meet our next Muse of the Month β€” who also happens to be a teacher in Fodder School 3!

Introducing Susanne Randers, known on Instagram as @mitkrearum. Be sure to give her a follow and show her some love!

What part of the world do you currently live in?

I live in Denmark, in a small village about 40 kilometers south of Copenhagen. Right now, my family and I are looking for a bigger home farther out in the countryside with endless views and even closer access to nature.

When did your art or crafting journey begin?

At the beginning of 2013, I made a commitment to myself to live a more creative life. Before that, I had spent nearly 20 years dreaming about being creative but rarely allowing myself to fully explore it. I think I was afraid of making mistakes, so instead of creating, I would organize and sort my art supplies by color rather than actually use them.

After what felt like a long creative drought, I discovered Julia Cameron’s book The Artist’s Way. That book changed everything for me. I began blogging, experimenting, and creating regularly, and it opened the door to the creative life I had always wanted.

How long have you been in Fodder School and what keeps you coming back each year?

I’ve been part of all five years of Fodder School and was also a teacher in Fodder School 3.

Fodder School gives my creative soul exactly what it needs. I’m endlessly curious and always excited to try new creative disciplines, so I love clearing off my worktable at the beginning of each month and diving into new techniques, mediums, and mixed media projects. That sense of creative exploration is one of the things I love most about the experience.

For me, creating is really about finding flow rather than focusing on the final result.

How has Fodder School influenced your creative journey or daily art practice?

One of my favorite things about Fodder School is the sense of community. I love the sharing and encouragement inside the Facebook group, and it’s inspiring to see how differently students interpret the same lessons and techniques.

When I first joined Fodder School, I never imagined I would eventually become a teacher or collaborate on turning my hand-carved stamps into ArtFoamies designs through Fodder School. Sometimes I still have to stop and think, β€œWow, I actually created that.”

Fodder School has also taught me so much about color theory and developing a personal color palette. Over the years, my signature pink-and-green color scheme has continued to evolve, picking up little influences and changes along the way.

What’s one project, technique, or lesson from FS that completely lit you up?

There have honestly been so many inspiring lessons and techniques over the years, but one combination I still love today came from Fodder School 3 β€” Tiffany Sharpe’s brayer techniques paired with Barb Smucker’s stencil work. That combination immediately became a favorite and is still something I return to regularly in my art practice.

I’ve also loved learning from teachers like Liz Constable, whose playful creative style is so freeing, and Jack Ravi, whose grounded and thoughtful approach has taught me a tremendous amount.

How would you describe the Fodder School community in three words?

Uplifting, caring and amazing.
