Kate McCurrach, our February instructor in Fodder School 5, has designed a collection of handcut-stamp-inspired foamies! Kate McCurrach was a Fodder School star student for many years, and this year I was THRILLED to have her join our roster of instructors (check out her Instagram account @macurack for some truly gorgeous eye candy).
Kate's collection is inspired by the many hand-cut stamps she's made, including the ones she's teaching in Fodder School 5! Cutting your own stamps can be gratifying, but take it from someone who has a lot of experience cutting stamps: sometimes, you just want something cute out of the box!
Here's how Kate describes her collection:
“This collection of art foamies is inspired by the timeless language of mid-century modern design—where form is confident, lines are bold, and repetition creates rhythm. Drawing from the era’s emphasis on simplicity and structure, each stamp balances clean geometry with organic elements to make repeatable compositions with a handmade and slightly wonky feel (in the best ways!). I’ve always been a fan of birds and flora and added those designs to celebrate my deep love for fusing nature and design.
These stamps are intended as tools for creative exploration. Whether used individually or combined into repeating patterns, they invite the maker to slow down, experiment, and build visual harmony through repetition. I love creating repeats on transparent tissue, old book pages, and fabric to add an extra layer of handmade charm to my art projects. This collection celebrates the enduring beauty of mid-century aesthetics while encouraging modern hands to reinterpret them in fresh, personal ways. ”
