Cathy Nichols, our May instructor in Fodder School 5, has designed a collection of birds and flowers with a nice rubber-stamp-like aesthetic! Cathy Nichols was first introduced to Willa Workshops as a teacher in Fodder School 5 (check out her Instagram account @cathynicholsart for some truly gorgeous eye candy).
Cathy's collection is inspired by her signature nature-inspired compositions, which is what she's teaching in her Fodder School 5 lessons. Though she normally draws her own birds and florals, these stamps are the perfect shortcut to some seriously cool imagery. You can even paint OVER the stamped image to get a truly unique feel—that's what Cathy is demonstrating in a FS5 Bonus Lesson!
Here's how Cathy describes her collection:
“It makes me so happy to share my flower and hummingbird drawings as ArtFoamies with you! Flowers, with their bright colors and intricate designs, have always reminded me that nature, herself, is an artist. I love the different petal shapes of each flower and the way that they attract sweet hummingbirds, but, most of all, I love using flowers to add a focal image to my abstract mixed-media collages! And now, with this new stamp collection, artists who love playing with paper and color (and maybe not drawing so much) can use my Foamies to add a focal point or tell a story, too! ”
