Check out Jane Chipps’s Collab Collection with ArtFoamies!

Jane Chipp is our January instructor in Fodder School 5 and she has designed a collection of lace-inspired stamps in collaboration with ArtFoamies! Jane Chipp was first introduced to Willa Workshops in Fodder School 2, and I'm so happy to have her join us again in this year's roster of instructors (check out her Instagram account @janechipp for some truly gorgeous eye candy).

Jane's lace pattern stamps are inspired by her January project in Fodder School 5, in which she is going to show us many ways to transform antique photos and vintage lace samples to make a super pretty bundle of lace memory box.

Here's how Jane describes her collection:

“A couple of years ago I was talking to an antique textiles collector, and she told me she had found something rather wonderful. She showed me a huge stack of beautifully aged papers; each one of them was a hand-drawn lace design. These were the original sketches that were used in the lace industry in Nottingham (a city renowned for lace production).

They were so beautiful, with their soft pencil lines and intricate details. She gave me several pieces, and I knew I needed to find a way to honor their beauty and give them a new life. Whilst I’d always loved to use old lace in my mixed media work, I started to see it in a new way. I thought about the people behind the lace, those sat at desks pulling designs from their minds, inspired by what they saw around them. It felt like a connection across the centuries as I sat at my own desk.

I wanted to share my love of lace, and the skill of the original designers, in a way that anyone could enjoy. ArtFoamies gave me that opportunity. I created sketches inspired by those historic patterns and had them made into stamps, each one allowing you to press a fragment of true lace history into your artwork and carry the designers’ creativity forward.”
