Meet Susanne Randers: Living Creatively and Finding Your Inner Child
What would happen if you let your inner child back in?
For Danish mixed media artist Susanne Randers, the answer is simple: creativity would flourish.
Susanne is on a mission to live creatively, filling her days with paper, scissors, glue, watercolors, paint and stencils. And when she's not making with paper, she might be sewing, knitting, gardening, exploring nature or finding a wonderfully unexpected way to bring color and creativity into her surroundings.
We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Susanne back as a Fodder School 6 and Fodder Challenge 2026 instructor!
If Susanne's name looks familiar, there's a very good reason. She was one of our beloved instructors in Fodder School 3, and since then, she's remained an incredibly active Fodder School student and frequent member of our Inspiration Squad.
We couldn't be happier to have her back for another year of creative exploration.
Susanne is a mixed media artist, paper lover and book maker whose work is deeply inspired by the natural world.
Her signature style combines botanical elements, handmade papers, collage, color and thoughtful details. But what makes Susanne's work especially wonderful is the sense that creativity is not something she simply does—it's a way she approaches life.
She finds inspiration everywhere.
A flower.
A scrap of beautiful paper.
An unexpected color combination.
Something noticed while walking through nature.
A material that might otherwise have been thrown away.
Susanne has a particular talent for transforming these ordinary moments and materials into something imaginative and unexpected. Her passion for nature, gardening, interior design and recycling all find their way into her creative practice.
And underneath all of it is a belief that we are made to create.
Susanne has written about how easy it is to let practical, everyday responsibilities push creativity aside, even though those creative moments can give us energy rather than drain it. Her answer has been to make a conscious choice to bring her inner child back and make creativity a bigger part of her life.
Honestly, we can get behind that.
Susanne's Fodder Challenge 2026 Project: Free-form Collage Tags
Susanne's Free-form Collage Tags are the perfect way to use up many of the scraps you'll end up with this October! Instead of working on a mother board, each of these clusters is collaged upon itself, meaning choices will be made specifically and intentionally around each previous piece in the cluster. It's a different way of working which will be sure to stretch you creatively!
Susanne's Fodder School 6 Lessons: Modern Herbarium Portfolio
Whether you've showed up for every lesson Susanne has ever released in Fodder School, or you're just falling in love with her for the first time, Susanne wants to take her love for nature to the next level and share the journey with you in her Modern Herbarium Portfolio! We will bring Mother Nature to our creative table and play with both paper and fabric, incorporating natural and created botanical elements throughout all aspects of your portfolio.
What Is Fodder Challenge?
Fodder Challenge 2026 is our month-long October creative event featuring inspiring mixed media artists, creative projects and plenty of opportunities to experiment. It's a fun, low-commitment way to discover the Willa Workshops community and try new techniques, whether you're new to mixed media or an experienced artist.
What Is Fodder School 6?
Fodder School 6 is our year-long mixed media art experience, featuring lessons from a diverse group of artists and instructors. Each teacher brings their own style, techniques and creative perspective, giving you a full year of inspiration and opportunities to develop your own mixed media practice.
How Can You Join?
You can join us in one of two ways:
